mumbai metro tunnel workThe Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has achieved 70 percent of tunnelling work for Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro-3 Corridor. A team of around 16,000 people have been working for the work undertaken.

The Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro-3 Corridor is the first and only fully underground corridor for Mumbai, Maharashtra. The milestone has been achieved in two years.

Once complete, the corridor is scheduled to carry 17 lakh passengers by reducing 6.5 lakh vehicle trips each day and will thereby reduce 2.61 lakh tonne pollutant gases every year.

Of the overall tunnelling across Metro Line-3, the maximum progress of 97 percent has been achieved on the stretch from Marol Naka to Aarey, which Package-7 and is expected to completed by 12 December 2019.
