SHM-ShipcareSHM Shipcare of Mumbai handed over the first set of three boats out of 14 FRP (fibre reinforced plastic) boats to ONGC Ltd at Nhava offshore. The event also marked the further handover of ISV-101 to the Indian Navy by ONGC.

“With this delivery we have not only become India’s first private sector player to manufacture FRP light armed high-speed vessels to be inducted in the naval field but have also added another milestone, once again reaffirming our over three decade commitment of protecting life, property and environment, and ensuring safe and secure coastal waters imminent to national growth,” Saifuddin H. Hajee, Managing Partner, SHM Shipcare Group, said.

These FRP light armed high-speed vessel will be utilised for deployment in offshore development areas. They are capable of day and night surveillance, high-speed interceptions of intruder vessels, rapid insertions and extractions of marine commandos for anti terrorist operations, amongst others.

The overall ONGC deal value for the 14 FRP vessels is around Rs. 168 crore. Going forward the company aims at exponentially increasing its revenues by sealing many such deals with partners like ONGC. The group further plans to reinvest in its infrastructure and utilise its 100m waterfront at the yard in Mumbai to facilitate quality logistics support and convenient after-sales repair services for our clients such as ONGC.
