The fast-paced development in renewable energy generation has become imminent as power consumption in India has more than doubled in the last decade. Despite the large-scale development in energy generation, there is still a big gap between demand and supply. The Government of India is taking concentrated efforts to increase the contribution of renewable energy in the total energy generation.
SPML Infra Ltd, a leading infrastructure development company, has taken green initiatives to install a solar power generation plant at its HQ building in Gurgaon, Haryana. The instantaneous generation capacity of 21 kW will help SPML to save more than 27,000 units of electricity per year and the carbon footprint will be reduced by 43,800 lbs/year. The panels will also keep the building roof cool and bring down AC usage as well. It is the first office tower in Gurgaon to have a solar rooftop system generating 21 kW thus significantly saving on the electricity consumption.
SPML took the initiative to install the rooftop solar power plant even before the notification issued by the Haryana government making it mandatory to install the same on all residential and commercial buildings having a plot size of 500 square yard.

At present, SPML Infra Ltd is developing infrastructure projects worth $1,000 million and provides drinking water to more than 40 million Indian population through development of various projects. The company has executed more than 600 infrastructure projects, laid more than 5,000 km of water pipeline in the past three decades, for example.
