Rain, snow subdue Baspa power

PM News Bureau

Recent heavy rains and snowfall in the upper regions of the Himalayas, including Lahul Spiti and Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh where Jaiprakash Hydro Power Ltd's Baspa II hydroelectric power project is situated, has resulted in rock fall on the installation for the pothead yard of the powerhouse.
This in turn has affected the power generation leading to suspension of generation. However, the company feels that the annual generation of power is not likely to be adversely affected as this is the lowest power generation period because of minimum discharge of water in the river. Steps are being taken to restore the power generation.
