Rail lines on forest land in Jharkhand
South Eastern Railway has asked the Jharkhand government to facilitate the handing over of forest land for laying railway tracks from Lohardaga to Tori. The new link is a joint venture between Railways and the state government. This is likely to enhance connectivity with bauxite mines in the area.
An amount of Rs 20 crore has also been allotted for upgrading the tracks in Ranchi division. This will cut travel time of passenger trains by at least 30 minutes and that of express trains by about an hour. Work is expected to be completed by April this year.
