Passenger dispersal system at station

PM News Bureau

The West Bengal government will develop a Rs 100-crore passenger dispersal system at Santragachhi railway station to enable faster and easier travel. Long-distance trains halt at Santragachhi station making it one of the busiest terminals in Kolkata. But public transport facilities available are not enough to meet the demand of passengers. Although the project is at a preliminary stage, the dispersal system envisages facilities like bus terminals, taxi stands, subways and a mini market. The state government plans to take over land adjacent to the railway station to construct the terminals. The government is yet to decide whether to develop the project on its own or through a joint venture.
