Binani to enhance clinker capacity

Binani Cement Ltd is increasing its clinker capacity at its plant in Sirohi, Rajasthan, by 2.3 milltion tpa and is also adding another 40 mw (2x20 mw) captive power plant with one 20 mw to be commissioned by December 2006 and another by December 2007. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 575 crore. Of this, Rs 415 crore will be spent on the cement project and Rs 160 crore on the captive power plant. The new capacity is expected to start commercial production by April 2007.
The additional clinker capacity of 2.3 million tpa is proposed to be set up at the site adjoining the existing plant where it owns about 304 acres. Together with the envisaged addition of clinker capacity, the total cement capacity would translate into 5.3 million tpa.
Binani Cement is a subsidiary of Binani Industries Ltd. The company has an enviable track record of having completed the existing facilities in a record 19 months. The company commissioned its plant in 1997 with an initial capacity of 1.65 million tpa. Over the years the capacity was enhanced to 2.25 milltion tpa. In Rajasthan, the company has a market share of around 13.4 per cent where its main competitors are Ambuja, Grasim, Lakshmi Cement, JK Cement and Shree Cement.
