Airfield at Hisar to be developed
Shakti S. Singh
The Haryana government has decided to develop the existing airfield at Hisar
in the state in a time-bound manner so as to make it suitable for handling of
bigger aircraft. The civil aviation department has invited expression of
interest from established companies for this purpose.
The length of the runway would be extended by 2,000 ft and it would be upgraded
for bigger aircraft. Night landing facilities would be provided and navigation
aids would also be upgraded. Another apron would be set up south of the existing
runway for parking.
Meanwhile, the Haryana Transport Department has introduced air-conditioned Volvo
bus service directly from Chandigarh to Indira Gandhi International (IGI)
Airport, New Delhi. A spokesman of the department said that the Volvo buses,
known as 'Saarthi, would leave the Inter State Bus Terminus here and run up to
Gurgaon via the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
