A proposal to build a four-lane highway connecting Vallarpadam International
Container Transshipment terminal with Nedumbasserry International Airport in
Cochin has been put forward. The proposal is awaiting clearance from the
empowered committee on infrastructure projects of the ministry of environment
and forests. The committee recently visited Kerala to study environmental
concerns raised over the highway project. It also held meetings with NHAI and
CPT officials, and visited the project site and studied water bodies and terrain
of the land.
