RE institute at Dayanand

The Haryana government has decided to establish a renewable energy training institute at Maharishi Dayanand University in Rohtak. The Rs 10-crore proposal has been sent to the ministry of non-conventional energy source for approval.
Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan, who also holds the renewable energy portfolio, said the institute would train youth in repair, operation and maintenance of renewable sources of energy like solar systems.
The project is part of the government's larger effort to popularise the use of renewable energy in the state. The renewable energy department plans to generate 500 mw of power by 2012 based on various RE sources. During the current year, the government has earmarked Rs 7.9 crore for a number of renewable energy scheme schemes. Of this Rs 5.95 crore will be spent under the state budget plan while Rs 1.95 crore will be incurred under centrally sponsored schemes.
