APIIC's mega projects

Following are the projects of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure
Corporation Ltd (APIIC):
Integrated township and convention centre: The work on an integrated
township and a convention centre is in progress. The project site at Hyderabad
consists of an integrated township, an 18-hole golf course, a convention centre
with 6,000 seating capacity and a business hotel. "EMAAR Properties, Dubai, and
APIIC are jointly promoting the project," says T.L. Ramchandran, General Manager
- Projects, APIIC.
Three special purpose vehicles have been formed for execution. Pravasi Bharatiya
Diwas and the Asian Development Bank meetings were conducted in the convention
centre, which was completed in January 2006. The business hotel was completed in
February 2006. The work on the integrated township is in progress. Development
work for the golf course is under progress and will be ready by January 2007.
Business district and trade towers: Evaluation and short-listing of
bidders for the business district and trade towers coming up at Manchirevula
village, Rajendranagar Mandal, RR District, Hyderabad, are in progress. Around
21 applications were received from national and international developers. An
estimated cost of the project is Rs 5,000 crore. The project will be spread over
97 acres and will include highrise buildings, which may have 60 floors. It will
be developed through PPP mode and expression of interest-cum-request for
qualification was notified on April 19, 2006.
FAB City, Hyderabad: An MoU was signed between the government of Andhra
Pradesh and SemIndia in February this year. The FAB City will be spread over
1,200 acres in Maheswaram Mandal, R.R.District. The cost is around $1.5 to 3
billion. Around 305.15 acres are handed over to SemIndia, a Hyderabad company,
for enabling them to apply for SEZ status.
Hyderabad Gems SEZ Ltd: The government has approved allotment of 200
acres in phases to Hyderabad Gems SEZ Ltd. Alloted 75 acres of land in Hardware
Park, Hyderabad, for phase-I of development of a gems and jewellery park. GoI
has issued provisional approval for status of SEZ for this project which will
cost Rs 460 crore in three phases. When the SEZ is complete, exports are
projected to be around Rs 5,000 crore.
IT parks: An IT park coming up at Manikonda will spread over 100 acres.
The duration of the project is five years and the cost is Rs 1,158 crore. The
project is split into two phases. The first phase will be developed on 50 acres
and take around three years and phase two will be spread on 50 acres and take
around two years. Land cost is around Rs 4.27 crore per acre and developer for
the project is Lanco Infratech Ltd, Hyderabad.
Another IT park coming up at Raidurg will be developed within five years and
will cover around 37.50 acres. The project cost is Rs 600 crore and comprises
two phases. Phase-I will span over three years and cover 17.50 acres and
phase-II will spread over two years and cover 20 acres. Developer for the
project is Shyamraju & Co. (India) Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore and land cost is around
Rs 3.69 crore per acre.
New initiatives: SEZ, Kakinada, for port related activities and refinery,
would spread over 10,000 acres. Hardware SEZ, Maheswaram, Ranga Reddy district
will spread over 111 acres and will be a product specific SEZ. Biotech SEZ at
Karakapatla, Medak district, will be a product specific SEZ and spread over 100
acres.
Leather SEZ, APACHE, Mambattu Village, Nellore district, will spread over 313
acres.
Satyaveedu Reserve Infra City (P) Ltd, at Satyaveedu, Chittoor district, is a
multi-product SEZ spread over 5,000 acres. Brandix India Apparel City (P) Ltd,
an apparel city near APSEZ, Visakhapatnam, will be spread over 1,000 acres.
