APHB to issue tenders for massive housing
M.C. Vaijayanthi
The Andhra Pradesh Housing Board would soon be issuing
tenders for construction of LIG type houses in Vishakapatnam and Vijayawada.
Around 750 units are to be constructed in Vishakapatnam and 950 in Vijayawada.
One more LIG project for Hyderabad city is also likely to be finalised, though
the numbers haven't yet been decided.
Currently, APHB is executing the Rajiv Gruhakalpa project under which close to
43,000 dwelling units are to be constructed. Close to 30,000 houses of 255 sq.
ft are being built at 12 different locations in Hyderabad, and the rest spread
over nine different places in the districts. Each unit is being priced at Rs
82,500 and the beneficiary has to bring in only 10 per cent of the cost upfront
and the rest of the funds are arranged through bank finance. The state
government gives land free of cost for the project.
Apart from these, some of the other major projects of the state, especially on
the high income segment, are done through the joint venture route. "We have 23
joint ventures in all for various projects which are in various stages of
implementation," said D.S. Raju, project coordinator, without giving specific
details about the JVs. APHB has already completed the Sanskruti project
comprising of 2,080 flats designed by CESMA International, Singapore. The Rs 220
crore Rain Tree project in joint venture with the Malaysian IJM Corporation is
nearing completion.
