Good progress on Upper Ganges distillery project

ProjectsToday

The distillery project of Upper Ganges Sugar & Industries coming up in Seohara in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh is progressing as per schedule, officials of Praj Industries, the EPC contractors, told ProjectsToday.
Elaborating on Praj's scope of work, officials said that phase-I of the project involving the setting up of a 40-klpd facility for rectified spirit will come up by September 2006. In phase-II, which is also under execution, a unit for producing 40 klpd of absolute alcohol will be set up. This phase is scheduled for completion by February 2007. In phase-III, which will be taken up after phase-II is commissioned, a 30-klpd unit for extra-neutral alcohol (ENA) will come up. This last phase is targeted for commissioning by September 2007. The overall project completion currently stands at 30 per cent, Praj officials explained.
Praj Industries was awarded the EPC contract, valued at Rs 15 crore, in March 2006. The scope of work involves all aspects of fermentation, electrical works, water treatment and instrumentation. Some mechanical fabrication has been sub-contracted to UP-based Vikram Engineers and Sagar Fabricators of Pune.
