Good progress on Upper Ganges distillery project

The distillery project of Upper Ganges Sugar & Industries coming up in
Seohara in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh is progressing as per schedule,
officials of Praj Industries, the EPC contractors, told ProjectsToday.
Elaborating on Praj's scope of work, officials said that phase-I of the project
involving the setting up of a 40-klpd facility for rectified spirit will come up
by September 2006. In phase-II, which is also under execution, a unit for
producing 40 klpd of absolute alcohol will be set up. This phase is scheduled
for completion by February 2007. In phase-III, which will be taken up after
phase-II is commissioned, a 30-klpd unit for extra-neutral alcohol (ENA) will
come up. This last phase is targeted for commissioning by September 2007. The
overall project completion currently stands at 30 per cent, Praj officials
explained.
Praj Industries was awarded the EPC contract, valued at Rs 15 crore, in March
2006. The scope of work involves all aspects of fermentation, electrical works,
water treatment and instrumentation. Some mechanical fabrication has been
sub-contracted to UP-based Vikram Engineers and Sagar Fabricators of Pune.
