Custom-made UPVC window and door systems

Madhu Chittora

Fenesta Building Systems, a division of DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd, offers custom-made UPVC window and door systems. Currently, the division has orders worth Rs 70 crore. Some of these are: Adhiraj Builders for its residential project at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai; Raheja Builders for its Raheja Garden at Thane; Orbit Builders for its residential project; and Ginger Hotels for its budget hotels. The company also has an order from Panchsheel Builders of Pune for a waterfront project.
FBS has executed projects for Salarpuria Builder, Bangalore, and Wockhardt, Mumbai. The company is into residential windows and doors. It has several orders for these products from celebrities like Sanjay Dutt and Ekta Kapoor.
The division will shortly open a branch in Chandigarh. "It will be operational within two to three months," said a company spokesperson. Started in 2003 in Gurgaon, Fenesta has since spread its wings to other parts of the country. Now FBS has branches in Hyderabad, Chennai, Coimbatore, Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kochi.
The growth of the division is such that the number of fabrication shops has increased. Earlier, FBS had a fabrication shop in Delhi and now they are in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai. The division provides end-to-end solutions and is into design, manufacture, fabrication and installation of window and door systems. The capacity of the company is 10 lakh window and door systems.
FBS is exploring the Middle East and other markets for exports. The company will venture into exports within a year's time. There is no fear from competitors as the design is as per Indian climatic conditions.
"With respect to our window and door systems, the most challenging task is to make people accept the product," the spokesperson said. The division is able to penetrate metros where the potential is huge. The division has a good presence in Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Pune, Cochin, Mumbai, Bangalore etc. Besides, the division is also exploring the market of Tier II and Tier III cities.
UPVC window and door systems are futuristic products and their awareness and acceptability is set to increase within two to three years. There will be a shift from aluminum windows to PVC windows. Being a premium product the cost of Fenesta Systems varies from Rs 300 per sq. ft to Rs 500 per sq. ft. The rate also varies from size, specifications, materials and glass finishes. UPVC windows and doors come with a 10-year warranty. From a least priority product, windows and doors are evolving and are now aesthetically more appealing.
These systems are machine-manufactured and come in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes. Made of UPVC reinforced with steel, the Fenesta frame is far more resilient than either wood or aluminium.
Unlike wood, Fenesta windows will not wrap, contract or expand with changes in weather. Unlike aluminium, Fenesta windows will not corrode. Its double sealing system provides barrier against pollution, noise and dust.
The window and door system is flexible, modular and made to order. Draw any shape, form or size, from simple straight lines to arches, from French windows to Bay windows, from contemporary to the traditional. Unlike aluminium, UPVC is a non-conductor, it does not transmit heat. This, in turn, saves energy.
Fenesta Building Systems is the most suitable answer for door and window requirements of homes, offices, factories, showrooms, hospitals and hotels.
