Union minister of shipping, road transport and highways, T.R. Baalu, has sanctioned repair works in Tamil Nadu at a total cost of Rs 489.50 lakh for providing paved shoulder in 92/200 to 114/0 km including wearing surface in 102/0-104/0 km between Udumalapettai and Oonjivelanpatti of NH 209 in Dindugal-Bangalore sector.
The Dindugal-Bangalore road is an important national highway which connects Dindugal, Palani, Udumalpet, Pollachi, Combatore and Sathyamangalam in Tamil Nadu, with Bangalore and Chamajjnagar in Karnataka. Due to these reasons the volume of traffic is heavy on this road and thus, it is mandatory to have paved shoulders rather than hard shoulders.
