Lal PathLabs centre to come up in Delhi

Dr. Lal PathLabs Pvt. Ltd, a diagnostics and pathology services firm, plans to
open up a testing centre on 70,000 sq. ft of land at Rohini, Delhi. The proposed
centre will entail an investment of Rs 35-40 crore. Venture fund Sequoia Capital
will finance the project to the extent of 26 per cent and the balance will be
borne by the company.
Construction work is expected to start next month. The centre will serve as a
high-tech reference laboratory and facilitate 1,600 to 2,000 tests. The centre
is expected to be operational by 2009.
Dr. Lal PathLabs is in the process of expanding its services and network and
already has 25 pathology laboratories with a capacity to conduct 200-250 tests.
Its target is to open 50 such labs by 2009. The company also plans to extend its
services to the south with an investment of Rs two crore for each centre.
