NHAI to improve Haryana highways

NHAI is planning to invest Rs 5,000 crore for widening and improving national highways passing through Haryana. NHAI will also spend Rs 9,000 crore on strengthening the road infrastructure of the entire northern region.
The six-laning of NH-1 from Panipat to Ambala had already been approved for which a detailed project report would be ready by June 2007. Work on this highway would be awarded in December 2007 and completed within 36 months.
About 30 per cent work on four-laning of NH-22 from Ambala to Zirakpur had been completed, and the remaining 70 per cent is likely to be completed by December 2008. Funds to the tune of Rs 413 core have been allocated for four-laning of Zirakpur-Parwanoo highway with bypass routes in Pinjore, Kalka and Parwanoo.
