Vindhyachal becomes largest power station

The second 500-mw unit of NTPC's Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station, Stage III, has been successfully test synchronised. With this, the total installed capacity has reached 3,260 mw.
Now, Vindhyachal STPS has become the largest power station in the country. Earlier, NTPC's Talcher Super TPS was the largest with 3,000 mw installed capacity.
The first 500 mw unit of stage-III of the power station was synchronised in August 2006. Situated in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh, the station has six units of 210 mw and four units of 500 mw. The total installed capacity of NTPC Ltd has risen to 26,904 mw.
The beneficiaries from this station include the states of the western region i.e. Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Daman & Diu.
