Chennai mayor cancels tenders

Kodambakkam Projects

Chennai Mayor M. Subramaniam, on April 10, cancelled all the tenders called for projects under Kodambakkam zone reportedly due to irregularities in the tenders.
The mayor has given instructions to officials to conduct an inquiry into allegations of irregularities in the tenders. From now onwards, the tender proceeding would be recorded on video to prevent irregularities.
According to an official release, the tenders called for as many as 28 development projects to be implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 3.65 crore, 12 road projects at a cost of Rs 2.53 crore and 16 maintenance projects at a cost of Rs 112 lakh.
