Manganese dioxide and much more
Nagpur-based Nagpur Pyrolusite Pvt. Ltd is the leading
manufacturer and supplier of manganese dioxide, manganous oxide and various
ferro-alloys such as low carbon silico-manganese, medium carbon ferro-manganese,
low carbon ferro-manganese, ferro-titanium, ferro-molybdenum, ferro-vanadium. In
near future, the company plans to launch the following products viz. manganese
sulphate, manganese carbonate, manganese acetate, chemical grade manganese
dioxide, ferro tungsten, ferro niobium and other ferro alloys.
Different grades of manganese dioxide (MnO2) manufactured by the company ranges
from 72 per cent MnO2 to 90 per cent MnO2. The MnO2 offered by is available in
powder, granular, chip and lump form. Powder MnO2 is available in the range from
85 mesh to 600 mesh. Manganese dioxide is an essential ingredient for the
manufacturing of dry cells, it is also used for decolorizing the greenish ting
in glass, it is used in ferro-alloys, ceramics, pigments, paints, dyes, organic,
inorganic and aromatic chemicals, and also in water treatment plant where
granular MnO2 is used to remove iron from the water.
Various grades of free flowing odorless fine powder manganese oxide offered by
the company ranges from 50 per cent Mn to 62 per cent Mn. Powdered MnO is
available in the size range of 85 mesh to 300 mesh. Manganese oxide is used in
animal feed industry, fertilizer industry, welding industry etc. Manganese is an
important micronutrient, the deficiency of which disrupts growth and results in
disorders of the bones and central nervous system. "As the animal body does not
produce manganese, it needs to be supplemented externally," said the
spokesperson from the company, while highlighting the importance of manganese.
Ferro alloys are used in the production of various grades of carbon and alloy
steel. The addition of ferro alloys essentially impart certain physical and
chemical properties in steel, e.g. change in tensile strength, ductility,
hardness, corrosion resistance, wear resistance or abrasion resistance
properties. Ferro alloys are also commonly used for deoxidization,
desulphurisation and refunding of steel.
The company's two manufacturing units are located at Gondkhedi District (Nagpur)
having a combined capacity of manufacturing about 1,200 metric tons/month of
manganese dioxide and granules, 800 metric tons/ month of manganous oxide and
about 500 metric tons/month of various ferro alloys.
The company has complete in-house integration for ore crushing, benefaction, R&D
laboratory including all testing facilities etc. Serving the market over the
past 23 years Nagpur Pyrolusite Pvt. Ltd. has carved out a niche, for itself in
manganese dioxide and manganous oxide and ferro alloys-the major minerals and
metals in which the company deals with.
