Pondicherry Special Economic Zone Company is in the process of finalising the consultant for developing a multi-product SEZ at Sedarapet-Karasur in Pondicherry. The company invited EoI for consultancy services last May.
Pondicherry SEZ Company, a special purpose vehicle promoted by Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation in a public-private partnership with Subhash Projects & Marketing and OM Metals Ltd, plans to develop the multi-product SEZ on 1,000 acres of land.
The SEZ comprises three zones - Zone I: Automobile and auto parts - 300 acres; Zone II: Information technology - 275 acres; and Zone III: Machinery and equipments - 300 acres.
According to company sources, the project is awaiting environment clearances from the government.
