A Business Correspondent

Following a long delay, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has floated tenders inviting bids for Mithi river rejuvenation programme.
The works include desilting and deepening Vakola nullah from Vakola bridge (Ch.645.00 m) to SCLR (Ch. 2525.00 m), construction of retaining walls along Vakola bridge (Ch. 645.00 m) to SCLR (Ch. 2525.00 m), and from Mini Confluence (Ch. 3300.00 m) to CST Bridge (Ch. 5883.00 m) on BKC side and from Mini Confluence (Ch. 3300.00 m) to (Ch. 4350.00 m) on LBS Marg side and a high-tech 'diaphragm wall' along the river (Ch. 4350.00 m) to CST Bridge (Ch. 5883.00 m).
A diaphragm wall is a retaining wall strengthened by a slurry or liquid-filled trench that exerts hydraulic pressure on the concrete structure, used often to retain groundwater.
The last date of opening the tender is September 7. MMRDA will accept joint tenders also for the above works. The entire project is estimated to cost Rs 119.6 crore.
