Headquartered in Finland, Metso Corporation is a global
engineering and technology company serving customers in the pulp and paper
industry, rock and minerals processing, automation industry and various other
industries.
Metso comprises three business areas: Metso Paper, Metso Minerals and Metso
Automation. Metso is involved in the supply of machinery in three major areas,
namely paper, rock/mineral processing and automation industry. Metso Corporation
had a turnover of Euro 5 billion in 2006, of which Metso Minerals contribution
was over Euro 2 billion.
Metso Minerals considers India to be its long term market.
Metso Corporation plans to beef up its manufacturing base in India and is eyeing
mid-sized acquisitions. It is learnt that the company is keen on strengthening
India as a sourcing base for its operations in Asia. At the same time, Metso
also has plans to open an engineering centre in India.
Metso Minerals (India) Pvt. Ltd., a company belonging to Metso Minerals,
consists of construction and mining business lines. Construction business line
supplies a whole range of crushing and screening equipment, while mining
business lines comprise projects and systems for ferrous and non-ferrous plants,
pumps and wear parts, besides bulk material handling.
The company has its local office headquartered in Gurgaon and regional offices
in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Thane and Kolkata. Metso Minerals has
manufacturing unit at Bawal, Haryana, a foundry at Ahmedabad and warehousing
operations at Gurgaon, Bangalore and Barbil (Orissa).
Through its bulk material handling division is located in Thane, the company
undertakes design, manufacture,etc of a whole range of bulk material handling
machines.
Bulk materials handling machines offered are: Stackers (slewing, luffing and
twin boom); wagon tippler (rotaside and rotary, unit and tandem), side arm
charger (for full or part rake); apron feeders, wobbler feeders, ship and barge
loaders, unloaders and so on.
