Upcoming mega projects
Fertiliser
Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilisers Ltd is setting up a DAP project with Rs 400
crore investment. The Central government's project is coming up at Kapasan,
Chittaurgarh, and is in planning stage. It involves manufacturing phosphatic
fertilisers and capacity of the plant will be around 850 tonnes per day.
Cement
A cement project belonging to Gujarat Ambuja Cement is under execution. The
capacity of this plant will be 2.5 million tpa and is expected to be complete by
2007-end. The company is making an investment of around Rs 600 crore.
Birla Corporation Ltd is setting up a cement clinker project at Chanderiya. With
an investment of Rs 300 crore, the company is expanding its cement clinker
capacity at Chittaurgarh. It will also set up a coal-based power project of 27
mw.
Zinc
Hindustan Zinc Ltd's zinc smelter project at Chanderiya with an investment of Rs
1,300 crore is under execution. Belonging to Sterlite Group, the plant is coming
up at Chanderiya, Chittaurgarh. The expected date for completion is mid-2008.
Zinc smelter capacity will be around 1.7 lakh tpa. The company is also setting
up a power project with 77 mw.
Automobile
Honda Siel Cars India Ltd with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore is setting up a
passenger car (Tapkura) project. The mega project is under execution and around
60,000 passenger cars will be manufactured a year. The project is expected to be
over by 2009.
Hero Honda Motors Ltd with an investment of Rs 300 crore is setting up a
motorcycle project at Kukas, Jaipur. The project is currently in planning stage.
Power
Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd is setting up the Barsingsar power project with
Rs 1,368.25 crore, which is under execution. It consists of two power units each
of 125 mw capacity. The project is expected to be complete by 2009. At the same
time, Neyveli Lignite is setting up a 500-mw thermal power project at Bikaner,
which is in planning stage.
Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd is setting up the Giral lignite power
project with Rs 1,350 crore investment. The state government's project is
partially complete and is coming up at Giral, Barmer. It consists of two
lignite-based power units each of 125 mw capacity.
The Nigam's Chhabra thermal power project with an investment of Rs 1,750 crore
is also under execution. The project has two power units each of 250 mw
capacity. It is expected to be completed by 2008. RRVUNL's Suratgarh power
project stage-IV with an investment of Rs 750 crore is under execution. The
250-mw coal/lignite-based thermal power project is expected to be completed by
2008. Also under execution is the Kota power project stage-VII with Rs 800 crore
investment. The project is of 195 mw capacity and is expected to be completed by
2008.
Marudhar Power Ltd's lignite-based power project with an investment of Rs 750
crore is under execution at Bikaner. The project consists of two power units
each of 135 mw.
Raj West Power Ltd, a company belonging to Om Prakash Jindal Group, is setting
up a lignite-based power project at Barmer. It is under execution and is
expected to be completed by 2008. The project cost is estimated at Rs 4,804
crore.
