The Tata Group has formed local teams for direct negotiations with land owners at the site of its proposed Rs 2,500-crore titanium dioxide plant in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, the state government has disclosed. The TN government's policy on the Tata plant is that it will not be a "party" to procure land or negotiate with land owners. This decision has been taken so that land owners get a fair price for their land. Only waste and dry land will be acquired for setting up the Tata plant in TN.
