GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure Ltd, has signed an MoU with Sabena Flight Academy, a global leading independent flight academy based in Brussels, Belgium, for setting up an international aviation academy.
GHIAL is racing ahead with the development of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad. Accordingly, the new JV company will set up the modern aviation academy at RGI Airport, Hyderabad, by January 2009. It will offer complete training packages for aviation related activites covering pilot and cabin crew training, engine engineers, technicians and aviation consultants. Training for airport operations staff will also be provided.
More than Rs 450 crore (Euro 80 million) will be invested over the next three years covering infrastructure including accommodation for over 200 trainees per year, six full flight simulators, cabin trainers and engineering tooling.
The partnership between both companies is based on the expertise of Sabena Flight Academy and associated partners such as CFM, Sabena Technics and Flight Care, and on the strong market position of GMR group in India.
