TRF Ltd will supply the coal handling plant for Mahagenco's 2x500 mw Bhusawal thermal power expansion project in Jalgaon district. The order, valued at the Rs 96.16 crore, was placed by Tata Projects Ltd, the balance of plant (BoP) contractor.
Speaking to Projectmonitor, R.C. Nandrajog, Executive Director, TRF, said that the order involved design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the 1,500 tph (tonnes per hour) coal handling plant on turnkey basis. Major equipment to be supplied include three sets of wagon tipplers with side-arm charges, three sets of apron feeders with dribble conveyors, and two sets of crushers and screens. A stacker-cum-reclaimer and belt conveyors will also form part of the equipment.
Work on the Bhusawal expansion project is currently in the initial stages. The order for the main plant package has been placed on Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. Mandatory clearances are in place and land for the project is already in possession. The first unit of 500 mw is scheduled to complete by August 2010, followed by the second in December 2010.
The Bhusawal plant is one of the oldest power generating stations of Mahagenco that began operations in July 1968 with one unit of 62.5 mw. Two units of 210 mw each were added between 1979 and 1982, taking the total capacity of the power plant to 482.5 mw.
