55 companies show interest

Ennore Port Container Terminal
Ennore Port Trust has extended, till May 20, the date of submission of request for qualification for the development of a container terminal at Ennore in Tamil
Nadu. The earlier date was April 30, 2008.
As many as 55 companies have already shown interest. These include including
shipping and financial companies, port terminal operators, and realty and
infrastructure players.
Some of the top companies in the running are NYK Line, CMA CGM Global (India),
Ashok Leyland Project Services, APL, Mundra Port and Special Economic Zone, IDFC
Projects, Balmer & Lawrie, Gammon Infrastructure Projects, L&T-ECC, Maytas Infra
Ltd, DP World, IL&FS Maritime Infrastructure Company Ltd, Hindustan Construction
Company, Adani Group and many more.
The container terminal will be built on build-operate-transfer basis for a
concession period of 30 years. The project cost is estimated at Rs 1,300 crore.
On completion, the terminal will handle 1.50 million TEUs. It will have a quay
length of 1,000 metres and will be designed for berthing of a minimum 8,000 TEU
capacity vessels.
