Amphitheatre: pride of pune
A swish amphitheatre, western India's first, was opened in
Pune in April. It's the city's latest landmark with international look and
unique setting, states Dilip S. Phansalkar
There couldn't have been a better location and surroundings
for Pune's brand new amphitheatre. In the neighbourhood close by are the race
course, Osho Commune, golf course, airport, exotic gardens, luxury hotels,
multi-cuisine restaurants, shopping malls, cinema halls and colleges. And there,
you've a ready-made, highly cultured audience!
The 500-seater is the centerpiece of Ishanya, the country's largest design
centre and specialty mall for interiors and exteriors. This architectural wonder
is spread over a luxuriant 10-acre campus with wide opens spaces and mint-fresh
air.
The crescent-shaped amphith-eatre overlooks a mini-lake that surrounds a
circular wooden stage. The water reflects a clear-blue sky when the sun shines
and a star-spangled outer space in the moonlight. It is equipped with
world-class acoustics and a state-of-the-art lighting system.
The stage is a versatile option for product launches, celebrity gatherings,
corporate events, fashion shows and entertainment spectacles. A rehearsal room
and green rooms contain complete support facilities like ironing, pantry, shower
rooms and so on. Visitors to the amphitheater can relax in a café or relish
world cuisine in a restaurant. A modern art gallery for hosting art shows is an
added attraction. All this, plus professionally managed security and ample
parking space guarantees carefree time.
Incredible amount of detail has been incorporated to design and create the
Ishanya amphitheatre, a project by Pune's Deepak Fertilisers & Petrochemicals
Corporation Ltd. The company will also launch a world-class convention centre
with a 750-seat auditorium in the next phase.
