Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd has signed an MoU with Torrent Energy Ltd for the supply of bulk power.
Under the MoU, Torrent Energy will supply 350-400 mw power to ONGC Petro-additions Ltd (OPaL), a company promoted by ONGC to set up a petrochemicals company at Dahej, Gujarat.
The Gujarat government has already designated Torrent Power Ltd as co-developer for generation and distribution of power in Dahej Special Economic Zone. As a result, Torrent Power has incorporated Torrent Energy to set up a 1,500-mw LNG/gas-based power plant at Dahej SEZ in phase-I, to be commissioned by 2011-12.
As per the MoU, Torrent will provide OPaL with sustained power supply, in synchronisation with OPaL's planned commissioning of its petrochemicals complex.
