A joint venture of Mumbai-based Unity Infraprojects and
Ahmedabad-based Backbone Enterprises Ltd has won a Rs 240-crore order from
Haryana State Roads and Bridges Development Corporation. The order relates to
improvement of the Murthai Sonepat-Sampla-Jhajjar-Dadri Road and the
Gurgaon-Farrukhnagar-Jhajjar Road. It entails strengthening of roads, providing
drains and culverts, and widening of bridges.
Speaking to Projectmonitor, Kishor Viramgama, Chairman & Managing Director,
Backbone Enterprises, said that execution would start soon with the work order
already received. The order is scheduled for completion within 18 months.
"Backbone will have a 40 per cent share in the contract," he added. Elaborating

Gujarat-centric company in Haryana. The company had earlier executed a portion
of the Jaipur-Gurgaon national highway project connecting Rajasthan and Haryana.
Discussing major orders on hand, Viramgama said that Backbone is currently
executing a Rs 92-crore order for four-laning of roads at the Jhagadia
Industrial Estate of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation in Bharuch
district.
In a related development, Unity Infraprojects also won a Rs 143 crore order for
widening and upgrading the Rai Nahra Bahadurgarh Road and Rohtak-Kharkhoda Delhi
border road. To be executed solo, this order, also from HSRBDC, is scheduled for
completion within 15 months.
