Kolkata-based Merlin Group has planned to develop a Rs 300 crore township project at Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh.
Called Singapore City, the integrated development project will include residential towers, an apartment club christened Club Marina and a Raffle Centre - a commercial area for offices, retail and other utility services. Spread over 25 acres, the project is being developed in association with Raipur-based Singhania Buildcon Group with Surbana International of Singapore being the chief architects.
Speaking to Projectmonitor, Sushil Mohta, Managing Director, Merlin Group, said that land had been acquired and preliminary work had already begun. Phase-I of the project is scheduled for completion within the next 18-24 months. In this phase, most of the development will take place except for a few residential towers that will come up in phase-II. "This will be the largest integrated real estate project in Raipur," Mohta asserted.
Singapore City will cater to the rapid economic growth of Raipur city. Chhattisgarh has been experiencing a socio-economic boom due to massive investments in coal mining and user industries like steel and power. "Raipur is gradually turning out to be the financial capital of central India," Mohta noted.
Elaborating on the features of Singapore City, Mohta said eco-friendly measures like rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment plants, thermal heat roof treatment, solid waste management system and water filtration plants would be deployed in the project.
The Singapore City project also widens Merlin Group's geographical presence outside Kolkata. Mohta said that the group had now expanded to Gujarat, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. In Gujarat, the group has proposed Garden Residency, a Rs 200-crore residential project comprising 300 bungalows in Ahmedabad. In Rajasthan, two residential projects at Banipark and Vaishali Nagar are nearing completion.
