Punjab signs projects worth Rs 20,000 crore
Commercial and industrial projects worth Rs 20,000 crore were
approved last week by the Punjab government. They include an eight-lane
expressway, luxury train and IT tower. The projects were cleared at a meeting of
Punjab Infrastructure Development Board. The expressway will connect Pathankot
town with Rajasthan's sufi shrine city of Ajmer via Jalandhar, the luxury train
will encircle Punjab's religious sites, and eight-lane ring roads around major
cities of Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar.
Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal also approved an expressway connecting Mohali
international airport with Amritsar, radio cabs in major towns, IT tower in
Mohali near Chandigarh and modern bus stands in several places.
