MoUs worth Rs 1,534 cr for Alappuzha

Agreements for projects worth Rs 1,534 crore were signed on
May 20 at the one-day 'Investors Meet for Alappuzha' in Alappuzha organised by
Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation. The other partners were Kerala
Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation and departments of tourism and
IT.
Nine firms signed MoUs with the state government and KSIDC via single window
module. These included Melam Group of Companies (Rs 100 crore project for food
park and food research institute), Grand Marine Products (marine products
processing and warehousing project at Aroor worth Rs 5 crore), Vasu Cocoa
Resorts Pvt. Ltd (Rs 20 crore tourism resort at Vayalar), Integrated Rubian
Exports Ltd (ready-to-eat food processing unit at Aroor worth Rs 5 crore) and
Source One Exports (food processing unit at Aroor for Rs 4 crore).
The remaining projects, the worth of which formed a major chunk of the MoUs,
were those of Universal Empire Group’s Rs 1,000 crore projects including a Rs
200 crore backwater resort and marina at Ambalapuzha, a Rs 600 crore healthcare
tourism project and IT park at Vasudevapuram, and a Rs 200 crore floating resort
at Ambalapuzha.
