Work of Perambur abattoir to begin soon

The modernisation project of Perambur abattoir is likely to take off soon. It is learnt that the project would have a waste management and effluent treatment plant at a cost of Rs 60 crore. Chennai Corporation has invited bids for a design-build-operate-transfer (DBOT) contract for the plant. The project ran into trouble for seven years due to various factors, but now with Mayor M. Subramanian taking earnest efforts to renew slaughter houses in different regions of Chennai like Villvakkam and Saidapet, Perambur abattoir is not a distant dream anymore.
