Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Bridge Authority (erstwhile Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge Authority) has floated a global tender [No.Tech/Jb-95/2006-270] inviting prequalification for engaging a third O&M operator for the operation, maintenance, toll collection and associated works for the 4.8-km Jamuna multipurpose bridge area for the period 2009-2013.
The bridge was successfully completed in 1998 with approach road and ancillary works. The major features of the bridge are the 4.8-km long segmental post-tensioning bridge; 128-m long approach viaduct at each end of the bridge; 3.2-km long river guide bunds at each end; 1.5-km long Bhuapur hard point (guide bund), 7 km north of the east bank; two toll plazas at the east and west ends; two 15-km long approach roads and their structures; and 7-km long east flood embankment road.
The bridge also boasts modern and efficient traffic control, surveillance observation, automatic vehicle classification and touch-and-go tolling facilities.
The cost of bid documents is Taka 5,000 and last date of submission of bids is July 16, 2008.
