Macro Dairy's milk unit to come up in Ludhiana

Macro Dairy Ventures Pvt. Ltd, a Ludhiana-based company with an objective to produce the highest quality of pasteurised milk in India, is setting up a milk
processing unit near Ludhiana in Punjab. The state-of-the-art equipment includes
fully mechanised milking system as well as electronic milk measurement.
When Projectmonitor got in touch with the company, Manjit Sigh, Manager - Human
Resources, explained, "We are setting up a very exciting milk processing unit
near Ludhiana. The exact location is at Latala, about 3 km from Ludhiana. The
unit is the first of its kind in India with a livestock that consists of 4,000
cows and buffaloes. We intend to process 1.5 lakh litres of premium quality milk
every day. All licenses and clearance certificates have been obtained, and work
is on in full swing." The estimated cost of the project is Rs 100 crore and it
will be ready by April 2009.
Commenting on the expansion plans of the company, Singh remarked, "Our expansion
plans in milk production in the next five years involves an investment between
Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 5,000 crore."
