Siemens bags 4th order from Vadinar Power

A Business Correspondent

Siemens Energy has won a €40 million (around Rs 260 crore) order from Vadinar Power Company Ltd for the supply of turbines and generators. To be used for the cogeneration plant at Vadinar, the site of Essar Oil's petroleum refinery in Gujarat, the order includes supply of two steam turbines each of 93 mw and 105 mw, and four generators. The order will be executed by 2011.
Vadinar Power, a subsidiary of Essar Oil Ltd, has been formed to meet the captive energy requirements of the refinery. The 10.5-million tpa petroleum refinery is being expanded to 34 million tpa. For Siemens Energy, this is the fourth order for turbine-generators from the same client. The steam turbines will be manufactured at Brno, Czech Republic, while the generators will be produced at Erfurt, Germany.
