Petrotech 2009 scales new heights
EVENT
Petrotech 2009, the 8th International Trade Conference & Exhibition, concluded on an upbeat note in New Delhi from January 11-15, along with concurrent
conference at the stately Vigyan Bhawan. The event was the biggest of its kind
and was supported by the ministry of petroleum and natural gas and organised by
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd with Reed Exhibitions as partner.
The chief guest was R.S. Pandey, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas,
and included other dignitaries such as S. Sundareshan, Additional Secretary, MoP&NG;
Ron Stevens, Deputy Premier & Minister of International & Inter-Government
Relations, Alberta, Canada; and Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhi, Minister of Oil
& Gas, Government of Oman.
Among the organisers, Sarthak Behuria, Chairman, IndianOil, and Chair - Steering
Committee; V.C. Aggarwal, Director HR, IndianOil, and Chair - Organising
Committee; P.K. Chakraborti, Director - Pipelines, IndianOil, and Director -
Exhibition Committee; Mike Allsopp, CEO, Reed Exhibitions, India; Ms Val
Johnston Jones, Industry Director (Energy & Marine) Reed Exhibitions, UK; and
Mandeep Singh, COO, Reed Exhibitions India, were present.
R.S. Sharma, CMD, ONGC Ltd; U.D. Choubey, Chairman, Gail (India) Ltd; V.K. Sibal,
Chairman, DGH; R.P. Sharma, Senior Vice President, Reliance Industries Ltd; and
Subir Raha, Ex-Chairman, ONGC Ltd, added glitter to the ceremony.
The dignitaries shared their views on the aptness of the theme Petrotech 2009 in
the current global scenario and how this platform would help evolve a consensus
on issues faced by the world economy, and the oil and gas industry in
particular.
There were many firsts in the run-up to the exhibition: Net space sold — 7,400
sq. m; 273 international and domestic companies; 13,433 visitors; 17,111
footfalls; and five country pavilions.
