Implementation of mass rapid transit system project in two phases. First phase involves an investment of Rs 8,100 crore

 

 

Contracts for several packages have been awarded and work commenced. A few contracts are in the  process of finalisation. In March 2001, a consortium comprising Larsen & Toubro among four other companies has bagged a Rs.1,650 crore contract for the construction of an underground corridor between ISBT station to Central Secretariat. The entire project is expected to be completed by March 2005.

Bhogibheel Rail-cum- Road Project

The project, included in budget 1997-98, envisages the laying of 46.5- km of railway track and 29.5- km of road. It also includes a 4.315-km Bogibheel rail-cum-road bridge

In September 2000, the scheme received ‘in-principle’ clearance of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA). The detailed investigation and final location survey has been taken up by RITES. The  project is expected to be completed in seven years from the zero date.

Khurda Road-Bolangir SL Railway Line

The project involves construction of a new railway line from Khurda to Bolangir in Orissa

The work on the final location survey is in progress. Tender for earthwork and minor bridge for first 2 km on railway land have been finalised. Work is expected to commence once land is handed over by state government.

Lumding-Silchar GC Railway Line

The project, which received Central government approval in April 1996, aims to connect Lumding in Nagaon district with Silchar in Cachar district, Assam

 

Earthwork and bridges are in progress between Lumding and Silchar in 90 km length (40 km from Lumding end and 50 km from Silchar end). 40 per cent of the eathwork in this section has been completed. Out of the 138 minor bridges 50 has been completed. Work on the Silchar-Jiribam gauge conversion is being carried out as a material modification of this work.

Daitari-Bansapani SL Railway Line

The project is being implemented with private sector participation. The rail line is considered to be vital in order to transport iron ore from the north-western parts of the state to the coastal areas where the co-promoters of this project are proposing to set up their respective steel plants

Most of the land acquisition work is over. Earthwork and bridgework are in progress from Banspani end. Out of 361 bridges works on 207 minor bridges have been completed and on 24 major bridges have been taken up. The project is expected to be completed by December 2003 subject to availability of resources.

The project involves the construction of a 230-km new line between Munirabad and Mahabubnagar

In December 2000, foundation stone for the railway line was laid. And a sum of Rs.5 crore is proposed in the budget of 2001-2002.

 

 

Haridaspur-Paradip SL Railway Line

The proposed line would facilitate the movement of mineral ores from Daitari, Sukinda and Kendujhar areas of the state and also from the south of Bihar to Paradeep port

A total of 1,300 acres of land in the districts of Jaipur,Kendrapura and Jagatsinghpur would be acquired. The location of the railway track and stations along the NH-5 has also been finalised.

The 35 km line between Peddapalli and Karimnagar became operational in May 2000. Survey work on the Karimnagar-Nizamabad section has been completed. As of February 2001, work is in progress on the Karimnagar-Nizamabad section.
