Urban development in Jharkhand
The Jharkhand state government has plans of developing about 46 towns spread over all the districts in the state. This would include allround growth of the urban centre with emphasis on safe drinking water, environment conservation, safety and pollution control, sanitation and sewerage system, development of infrastructure viz a viz roads, bridges communication networks and superstructures like market complex, bus stand, parks.
In August 2001 it has invited consultants to prepare Master Plans with a minimum perspective of 20 years for 46 towns in Jharkhand.
