Ship canal proposed

The Tuticorin Port Trust proposes to conduct a detailed feasibility study of the Sethusamudram Ship Canal linking Palk Bay and Gulf of Mannar. The canal through Rameswaram Island will provide a continuous navigable sea route through the Indian Peninsula.

It has invited two part global tenders for conducting a techno economic viability study and a detailed environmental impact assessment (EIA) study. Consultants who have rendered similar services previously can purchase necessary documents for Rs 5,000 or $150 till October 24.
