Construction packages for Allahabad bypass
The 87-km long Allahabad bypass on NH-2 forms part of a new phase of the Third National Highway Project and the Grand Trunk Road Improvement Project being undertaken by NHAI.
The Allahabad Bypass Project is divided into three construction packages comprising an exclusive 1-km long bridge package over the Ganga and two 4-lane road construction packages. Road sections include construction of embankment and elevated structures, rigid pavement and minor bridges. The bridge package has two independent parallel bridges each having a 7.5-metre wide two-lane carriageway and a 1.5-metre pedestrian footpath. The bridges are located at a distance of 12 metres to facilitate independent well sinking for the two bridges.
NHAI proposes to construct the bridge with pre-cast segmental cantilever construction technology with epoxy-glued joints and internal bonded pre-stressing. The foundations would consist of well foundations of about 10 m in diametre and 40 m to 50 m in depth.
The Ganga Bridge construction package is to be completed in 36 months while two
road construction packages are to be completed in 30 months.
Consultants will be selected for supervision of works. The supervision consulting services will broadly include project supervision and monitoring, quality control, contract
management and engineering decisions providing advisory services to the client for administering successful and timely implementation of these construction packages. Prospective consultants may submit their EoIs by December 15, 2001.
