Gas plant expansion project in Oman
Petroleum Development Oman has invited bids for a $150 million expansion of a gas plant from 40 mcmpd to 60 mcmpd. PDO is also promoting gas pipeline projects in Salalah and Sohar for which it will seek private investment. The company, which produces 90 per cent of Omani crude oil, is a public sector undertaking in which Royal Dutch/Shell and TotalFina Elf have a stake.
UAE to issue tender for national grid
A tender for the $177 million national electricity grid linking the seven emirates of the UAE federation will be issued in the second half of 2002. The detailed study on the project will be completed by April. In addition, the UAE is scouting for IPPs for its plans to add more than 8,000 mw to its electricity generation capacity over the next 10 years.
Indonesia offers blocks for E&P
The Directorate General of Oil and Gas has re-tendered for 17 blocks for E&P. Two blocks offered earlier failed to attract interest. The bids have to be submitted by July 2002. The onshore blocks are Bangkanai in central Kalimantan, and Polewali and Enkarang in south Sulawesi. The offshore acreages include a third block in Makassar Straits called Muara Bakau and the Anambas block in Natuna Sea. The other offshore blocks are: Tigau and Mentana off north-east Kalimantan, Biga and Setaf in the Seram Sea and another six acreages, Amborip I-VI, in the Arufa Sea offshore West Papua.
WB loan for Thai highway project
The Government of Thailand, which has received a World Bank loan for its Highways Management project, will be offering, on ICB basis, work contracts for highway maintenance and upgradation, and road safety improvement equipment contracts.
