Suzlon to commission Asia's biggest wind park in Maharashtra

By A Business Correspondent

Suzlon Energy Ltd, Asia's leading wind power company, is in the process of commissioning Asia's biggest wind park of 250 mw capacity at Vankusawade in Maharashtra. Till now, a total of over 490 wind energy converters of 350 kW capacity have been installed at this wind park totalling over 174 mw. The balance is expected to be installed shortly making it the largest single-make, single-size (350 kW) wind park in the world.

The Vankusawade Wind Park is located on a high mountain plateau at 1,150 m, above the Koyana Reservoir, around 40 km from the town of Satara.

The Suzlon Wind Park employs a total solutions approach, involving an unparalleled 'concept to commissioning' package ensuring 20 years of uninterrupted power supply. The Vankusawade complex houses full-fledged infrastructural facilities that include central monitoring stations, training centre, residential facilities for the technical staff and a well-equipped dispensary.

With the emergence of wind-generation activities, the Vankusawade plateau has undergone a total change with investments pouring into wind power projects.
