The Kolkata Port Trust has issued a global tender for various works for river regulatory measures in its navigational channel. The works, estimated to cost Rs 400.36 crore, have been divided into four major elements: construction of dyke in the foreshore and behind existing irrigation embankment; capital dredging of a 10-km long channel up to 4.5 meters; trimming of western face of Nayachara Island and disposal of the material; and, maintaining the dredge cut channel for a year after completion of all works. The first three works need to be completed within a year-and-a-half.

As per the qualifying criteria, the contractor must have completed dyke construction works worth at least Rs 5 crore, and should have executed dredging works valued at least at Rs 100 crore.

Bid documents, which can be obtained up to April 25 for Rs 10,000, must be submitted by May 6 along with an EMD of Rs 5 lakh.
