327 km of new roads added
In the 9th Plan period, till December 2001, 327 km of new roads were added to the road network in Haryana and 4,118 km of roads were improved.
Hudco is assisting in the upgradation of major district roads and other district roads, in two phases, at a cost of around Rs 300 crore. Works worth Rs 100 crore are currently in progress. Besides, upgradation and periodic maintenance of 1,155 km of state highways has been taken up in the first two phases at a cost of Rs 219.92 crore. The third and fourth phases of the programme will cover 853 more km of state highways at a cost of Rs 198.10 crore.
The state government has approached NABARD with a new proposal of Rs 35 crore for construction of 23 key bridge links.
