CII and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd are jointly organising a "National Seminar on Public-Private Partnership in Defence Aerospace Industry" [HAL Convention Centre, Bangalore, June 12-13] to explore the opportunities thrown up by the opening up of the Defence sector. Besides the Defence forces, Defence PSUs can now associate with the private sector as their strategic partners.
In this context, HAL has taken a lead to search and identify potential partners in the Indian private sector for joint production. HAL's main objectives here are: Controlling the manpower; capital investment by the private sector; procuring various items from private Sector at a competitive price; and, private sector will maintain their delivery schedule in time so that the inventory in HAL can be controlled and reduced. In order to encourage the private sector, HAL aims to provide workload at least for the next five years.
