GAIL pipelines to protect Taj
Till March 2002, GAIL had spent a total of Rs 102 crore on the Taj Trapezium Zone, involving the creation of pipeline infrastructure for protecting the environment around the Taj. The pipelines are the Bajhera-Agra spur line, Agra-Ferozabad City Gas Distribution pipeline network, which is being funded by OIDB, and establishment of a city gas station for supply to industries with related metering stations for individual consumers.
Three new LPG bottling plants
Indian oil marketing PSUs plan to set up three LPG bottling plants at Gopanari, Assam, Dimapur, Nagaland, and Kota, Rajasthan, during the current year.
As of 2001 the PSUs have set up 155 LPG bottling plants across the country. The OMCs plan to augment the bottling capacity from 6,207 thousand metric tonnes per annum as of 2001 to 8,070 tmtpa during the 10th Plan.
Oil giants plan petro federation
IOC, ONGC and GAIL have tied up with MNCs, Shell, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and Unocal, and Reliance Industries for setting up the Petroleum Federation of India (Petrofed). This will serve as an interface between the GoI and the industry on policy matters such as tariff. The federation will maintain a database on all activities in the industry. The companies will have to pay Rs 1.5 crore, depending on their turnover, as annual membership fee to Petrofed.
HPCL launches new LPG product
HPCL, which has a 25 per cent market share in LPG, has introduced its branded "LPG Jee Haan" to increase its 11 per cent share in the rural market.
