NH-2 in Bihar being developed
By A Business Correspondent
NH-2 passing through Bihar is the only National Highway to be covered under NHAI's National Highway Development Programme. The road traverses four districts-Kaimur (a new district created recently), Rothas, Aurangabad and Gaya, towards the south of Bihar before entering Jharkhand.
NH-2 in Bihar starts at Mohania in Kaimur and enters Sasaram in Rohtas. This 45-km Rs 230 crore stretch was awarded to LG Engineering & Construction in early 2001 and is expected to be completed by February 2004. Earthwork is currently in progress.
The 30-km Sasaram-Dehri on-sone section was bagged by Somdutt-NCC (a joint venture) in April and will be commissioned in another three years. The contract for Dehri on-sone to Aurangabad section, a 40-km long route, was given out to Ssangyong Korea-Oriental SE India, a JV between an Indian and South Korean company. This 218 crore road will be completed by February 2004.
Oriental Structural Engineering Ltd and Gammon India Ltd won the Rs 284.88 crore 60-km road length between Aurangabad to Barachatti (Gaya).
